PWA instrumental in 5-county management strategy plan approved by the National Marine Fisheries Serv PDF Print E-mail
Under the Endagered Species Act section 4(d), the National Marine Fisheries Service has approved the road manual being used by Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino, Del Norte, and Siskiyou Counties which contains measures to improve or at least reduce impacts to anadromous fish habitat.  The program is spearheaded by Mark Lancaster, Sandra Perez, and Christine Jordan from the  Five Counties Salmon Conservation Program in collaboration with both public and private entities over the last few years.  Pacific Watershed Associates has been instrumental in the development of  the 5 County road inventory and sediment reduction protocol and database development; and has continued to assure quality control on the project through field review and regular technician trainings.  This type of county wide road assessment and implementation strategy is becoming popular and is currently being initiated in Santa Cruz and Sonoma Counties with the help and coordination of  Pacific Watershed Associates.
