11/20/2008, Eureka, California. The Alliance for Sustainable Jobs and the Environment (ASJE) has named Pacific Watershed Associates Inc. (PWA) as the 2008 Restoration Organization of the Year.

Bill Weaver and Danny Hagans at the ASJE Awards Ceremony. | ASJE, a coalition of environmentalists and unionists dedicated to worker's rights and environmental protection, recognized PWA for its successful watershed restoration efforts, its leadership in developing and teaching effective techniques for reducing erosion and improving water quality and fish habitat, and for implementing environmentally based projects that have generated good jobs and millions of dollars in revenue for local economies in Central and Northern California during the past decades. ASJE recognized PWA and its founders, Dr. William E. Weaver and Danny K. Hagans, for "…truly pioneering efforts. Their work, as well as that as a multitude of others who have adopted their techniques and systems, has kept millions of yard of soil material on slopes throughout Northern California and out of our precious rivers and streams. They continue to provide guideposts that are usable as well as an inspiration." In conjunction with the ASJE award, PWA also received special recognition as the 2008 Restoration Organization of the Year from the U.S. House of Representatives (Congressman Mike Thompson), the California State Senate (Senator Patrician Higgins), and the California Assembly (Patty Berg). |
