Sediment Source Inventories and
erosion prevention planning for forested watersheds of the lower Eel
River basin, Humboldt County, California
Conducted detailed
sediment source inventories for 4 watersheds in the lower Eel River and
Humboldt Bay areas. Mapped landslides and fluvial erosion (both
non-road and road related), and determined the impact of land
management in each process. Developed attribute information for each
mass wasting and fluvial erosion feature, and computed volumes and
sediment delivery. Prescribed and/or designed an implementation plan
for future erosion prevention work, including road decommissioning,
road upgrading, and harvest management strategies. (Scotia Pacific
