Workshops & Technical Training PDF Print E-mail

Pacific Watershed Associates has extensive experience in conducting training and workshops relating to watershed restoration and erosion control.  Workshops are customized to the client’s specific needs and interests and can be presented either by PWA solely or jointly with other experts.  We pride ourselves in bringing technical concepts to a level of practical understanding for a variety of audiences. PWA presents up to 20 workshops each year ranging between one and five days.

Our most popular workshop and training topics include:
  • Wildland and rural road systems (including road upgrading, maintenance, storm-proofing, and decommissioning)
  • Sediment source inventories and assessments
  • Erosion prevention, erosion control, and sediment control practices
  • Watershed assessments and analysis
  • Fluvial, hillslope, and coastal geomorphology

Upcoming Workshops and Presentations

Rural Roads Drainage Demo Workshop June 23rd on Garrapatos Road, Carmel, CA

The RCD of Monterey County, Garrapata Creek Watershed Council, Pacific Watershed Associates, NRCS, and the Big Sur Land Trust invite road maintenance crews/contractors, road association members, and rural road erosion assistance providers to a half-day workshop between Carmel and Big Sur on June 23 from 8am to noon. The workshop will include an introductory session on road erosion/drainage management techniques and rationale followed by demonstration/installation of road drainage projects (rolling dips) on Garrapatos Road to be conducted by a private contractor with oversight and ‘interpretation’ from Pacific Watershed Associates for those of us not operating equipment.

This is a rare opportunity to not only learn about something but see it done step-by-step with the folks who ‘wrote the book’ on-hand. Please contact Paul Robins at the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County by replying to this email or calling 831-424-1036, ext. 124. Please feel free to forward this within your departments or to road association folks you know. MOST IMPORTANTLY, please have all interested contact me tor RSVP and for locational information and directions. We may have space limitations for the opening session, which will include snacks provided by the Garrapata Creek folks.
