Laurel Tree students enjoying their new computer lab

After several years of faithful service at the McKinleyville office, PWA donated seven desktop computer workstations to Laurel Tree Charter School in Arcata, to establish a computer lab for students. The computers are now enjoying a second life, providing opportunities to kindergarteners and high schoolers alike as they practice reading, writing, and computer literacy skills. "The students are so proud of their computer lab and are eager to use it at every opportunity", says Amber Ryno, social studies and drama teacher at Laurel Tree.  This year, for the first time, Laurel Tree students will have the opportunity to take their student achievement tests on the computers as they pilot the new Smarter Balance standardized test.
