Kathy receiving the Spirit of the Red Cross Award

February 21, 2014

The Humboldt-Del Norte Chapter of the American Red Cross held their 12th annual Humboldt Heroes luncheon and fundraiser to honor local community members dedicated to saving lives on the North Coast. Eleven honorees received awards and were invited to speak to an audience of more than 200 people who attended the event, which was hosted by the River Lodge in Fortuna.

Kathy Moley-Viand, Associate Geologist and head of the environmental department at PWA, received the Spirit of the Red Cross Award in recognition of her efforts to support community outreach and education on tsunamis, earthquakes and disaster relief preparedness. Kathy has been involved in community outreach efforts for the past 16 years at Pacific Watershed Associates and is a founding member of the Redwood Coast Tsunami Work Group, which was established in 1996. She is dedicated to ensuring that Humboldt County is disaster ready by sharing her expertise and time with local communities throughout the North Coast. PWA is happy to support Kathy's endeavors and excited to see her being recognized for all of her hard work.
